We often get asked where we come up with some of these names. In this case it was easy. Della Terra is Italian for “From the Earth.” What more do we need to say? It’s the perfect description for this wonderful style. Each piece is hand fitted with a very high end tightly woven fabric wrap, in either black or white. Each frame is handcrafted in and imported from Italy, and are sourced from sustainable forestry programs. All you have to do is pick which frame and linen works best for you. It is hard to describe the beauty that surrounded me. The jagged peaks of the Cascade Range rose up into the sky, their snow-capped summits shimmering in the last sunlight of the day. Crystal clear blue lakes and rushing streams dotted the landscape. I was in paradise.
As the day wore on, I grew tired but determined to reach my destination. The next morning I would trudged up what many call the worse part of the entire trip. But I had been training all summer long at between 10k and 11k feet. It was not really so bad. Then, eventually, I reached the top and saw the most breathtaking sight of all, a panoramic view that spread out in front of me for what seemed hundreds of miles. From there I felt as though I could see the entire wilderness. But it was only a sliver.
I continued on what would end up being a six day journey, grateful for the chance to explore this magnificent corner of the world.
