In 2015 Rodney's image "Half Dome at Twilight" was selected as a highly honored winner in the Nature's Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards competition and was available to be seen in the museum during the fall of 2015 thru the fall of 2016.
It has become the third of Rodney’s images to become part of the Smithsonian's permanent collection.

We often get asked where we come up with some of these names. In this case it was easy. Della Terra is Italian for “From the Earth.” What more do we need to say? It’s the perfect description for this wonderful style. Each piece is hand fitted with a very high end tightly woven fabric wrap, in either black or white. Each frame is handcrafted in and imported from Italy, and are sourced from sustainable forestry programs. All you have to do is pick which frame and linen works best for you. There are but a few things that I truly cherish in life. Peace & Calm are on the short list.
I didn’t know what was going to happen that evening. I had decided to set up two cameras, this one and the huge 8x10 camera. And in the midst of running back and forth between the two cameras, which were not so close together, not wanting to ‘miss the moment’ I was forced to pause by the sheer beauty that was unfolding right in front of my eyes.
The pause, if only for a simple few moments, filled me with a sense of peace and calm I am not likely to soon forget. It reminded me that we need to slow down and enjoy the simple truthful moments in life that come all too infrequent these days, because it is in those moments that we find real peace, real calm, life as it was meant.
